Areas of interest: Architectural Sociology, Urban and Community Sociology, and Social Psychology.

Ron Smith is the Director of the Center for Advanced Research for the UNLV College of Liberal Arts and Principal Investigator for the Center for Health Information Analysis. He is strongly committed to the professional goals of quality teaching, scholarship and service to others as well as to his students, colleagues and fellow citizens.

His current major project is selecting a publisher for his book, Architecture: Designing for Culture, Social Interaction, & Self. He has also recently co-authored “Symbolic Interaction Theory and Architecture” with Valerie Bugni, which was published in Symbolic Interaction.

His most recent conference presentation was “Use of a Theoretical Model for Organization Research (TMOR) for Designed Physical Environments” at the EDRA conference in Sacramento.
